Wicklow Arts Office understands that a lot of young people around the county are isolating at home,
not able to meet up with friends or participate in their usual creative activities.
Normally Cruinniú na nÓg allows us to gather and create in parks, libraries, schools, theatres, woodlands and heritage sites.
This year in light of the Covid-19 pandemic this is not possible.
So, Wicklow Arts Office is delighted to ask you to create together apart this year for Cruinniú.
We want you with some assistance from parents or guardians to show us your creative ability and share it with the county. #CreativeIreland
We are collaborating with well-known musicians in County Wicklow, Music Generation Wicklow and our resident choral group www.mouthfulway.co.uk and want you to write in whatever creative style or music genre you like, an original song as part of our Cruinniú na nÓg #mycruinniu Wicklow competitions for 2020.
All films will be screened online via Facebook Live on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/wicklowartsoffice on June 13th the day of Cruinniú na nÓg.
Closing Date: Friday June 5th 2020 at 4pm.
Entries can be by individuals or groups / bands. Songs must be under 4 minutes long.
They can be written on any topic /subject and in any genre of music.
All lyrics and music must be the entrants' original work.
The accompaniment / music must be the creative composition work of the entrants, but you can enlist family members in your unit or via Zoom or other video call application to play on the track.
Alternatively you can use song writing apps such as garage band and their available sounds.
You may submit material you have already been working on a while or completely new material.
Remember this year we are creating together apart and guidelines of the Government and NPHET in relation to Covid-19 must be adhered to at ALL TIMES.
The competition will be judged on the originality, lyrics and melody of submissions.
You will need to submit:
Please ensure that you record your video in a living space in your home / residence where possible, and give some thought to the background in your shots as the material will be produced and potentially screened on Wicklow County Council, Music Generation and Cruinniú na nÓg media outlets on June 13th and to promote the work.
